AbstractThis roundtable presentation focuses on young adulthood, a crucial stage in identity formation, the search for meaning in life, and building relationships. The paper outlines the key psychological challenges of this period: identity, career goals, the development of social and emotional skills, as well as the development of potential mental disorders, including anxiety and depressive disorders, personality patterns, and neurodevelopmental characteristics. Particular attention is given to young adults' perceptions and behavior when seeking psychiatric help: heightened awareness, the use of psychiatric terminology, the desire for a diagnosis as a means of gaining identity, and their preferences in choosing activities based on an internal sense of comfort. In the context of interpersonal relationships, it highlights their demand for emotional intimacy and difficulties in resolving conflicts. The discussion will also examine the boundary between the natural psychological processes of this period and the development of mental disorders.
